Drew Center Pharmacy is a 50-year-old pharmacy that provides professional services to a diverse and underserved minority community in East Palo Alto, Menlo Park, and the greater Bay Area.

We offer a wide selection of prescription medications — including the top 200 pharmacist-recommended over-the-counter medications, vitamins and nutritional supplements (pharmacist-evaluated for quality), personal care and skin care items, and wellness products. We also carry durable medical equipment including blood pressure monitors, walkers, and canes, plus special gifts, ethnic collectibles, and fashion jewelry.

We also provide copying services, color photo services, faxing services, and utility payment services. Our goal is to offer you a hassle-free, quick, and complete shopping experience with the hopes that your visit will fulfill your healthcare and personal needs.

We place emphasis on multi-cultural communication and understanding to enhance greater participation and control of your healthcare needs. We are dedicated to creating and maintaining a healthier and happier neighborhood in East Palo Alto.

Our Story

50 Years Serving
East Palo Alto

In 1967, East Palo Alto residents organized the East Palo Alto–Menlo Park Neighborhood Health Center as part of the Great Society movement, providing community-focused access to doctors, health advice, and counseling on sickle cell anemia. The center grew into a federally-funded nonprofit and was renamed in honor of Dr. Charles R. Drew, the pioneering Black surgeon who made modern blood transfusion possible.

Drew Center Pharmacy was formally opened as part of the Charles R. Drew Medical-Dental Center in 1974, serving a community base that would grow to over 10,000 patients in East Palo Alto and eastern Menlo Park.

In 1983, Dr. Arthur H. Lim, Pharm.D. took independent ownership, becoming the pharmacy's sole Director and Pharmacist-in-Charge — bringing personal expertise and community trust to every prescription filled and every question answered for over 40 years.

Today, Drew Center remains one of the last independent community pharmacies in the area, a trusted neighbor, healthcare partner, and community institution serving East Palo Alto, Menlo Park, and the greater Bay Area. Our mission is to emphasize multi-cultural communication and understanding to enhance greater participation and control of healthcare needs for every member of our community.
